Musoya

Musoya, is a performance created by bootyshake dancer Patricia Badin. Only this time, Patricia has offloaded all the stage props she usually uses during her performances (costumes, wigs, headdresses…) to return to the basics of dance, body and muscle.
Patricia dances from behind, to the slow rhythm of the luminous images projected on her muscular body. Depending on the projection, different portrayals of women are created: she is alternately imprisoned, wild, free or dominated…
Here is a quote from Anthony Vincent, a journalist for the Têtu magazine, about our performance:
“Performing to a de-synchronized, interspersed music, Patricia Badin was most importantly twerking in front of a projection of her own body. The game of shadows echoed to colonial fantaisies, reminiscent of the Venus Hottentote, and while the audience was still seeing her from behind, her dorsal movements reminded me of those of the great choreographer Trisha Brown and her famous solo If you couldn’t see me.”
